Philosophy of Adventist Education
Alaminos Adventist Multigrade School, Inc. a Christian Seventh-Day Adventist Institute, believes that God, the Creator and Sustainer of the earth and the entire universe is the Source of all knowledge and wisdom.DEFINITION:“In the highest sense, the work of education and the work of redemption are one; for in education, as in redemption can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (Ed. 30)PURPOSE:“To bring man back into harmony with God, so to elevate and enables his moral nature that he may again reflect the image of the Creator, is the great purpose of all the education and discipline in life.” (CT: 49)SCOPE:“True education means more than the pursuable of certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for life that now is. It has something to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of experience to man.” (Ed. 13)AN EXAMPLE:“The most important for our educational institutions at this time is to set before the world an example that will honor God.” (CT: 157)ORDER:“Order is heaven’s first law, and every school should in his respect be a model of heaven.” (CT: 175)

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTCOMESThe Seventh-day Adventist Church has made a commitment to provide a broad education andspiritual formation for its children, youth, and young adults within the context of the Christian worldview.The Church extends this same opportunity to other children and youth of the community who sharesimilar values and ideals. Adventist education seeks to maintain academic excellence in all teaching andlearning activities.ELEMENTARY SCHOOLSThe Adventist elementary school offers students (1) a climate in which they can understand God'swill, commit their lives to Him, and experience the joy of helping others; (2) an organized programleading toward spiritual, physical, mental, social, and emotional development; (3) a basic core of skills and knowledge for everyday living appropriate to their age; (4) a wholesome appreciation and respectfor the home, the church, the school, and the community.Students completing the elementary level at an Adventist school should—• Have had the opportunity to commit their lives to God through conversion, baptism, service, and adesire to do God's will in every area of living.• Demonstrate competence in thinking, communication, and quantitative skills, along with otheracademic areas foundational to schooling at the secondary level.• Manifest interpersonal skills and emotional growth necessary for healthy relationships with theirpeers, family, and community.• Know and practice basic principles of health and balanced living, including a wise use of time andentertainment media.• Develop an appreciation for the dignity of labor along with a general awareness of career optionsappropriate to their interests and God-given abilities.
